Milk Test

DHIA -Dairy Herd  Improvement Association

DHIR -Dairy Herd  Improvement Registry

BF - Butterfat - The percentage of the fat component in milk. 

AR -Advanced Registry - Animals who have proven milking ability by meeting standards of production kept by the Registry.

UOP - Uniform Operating Procedures - a standardized and accepted system of procedures for milk production testing

NDHIP - National Dairy Herd Improvement Program

TMGR Milk Test Awards - *D - Does with earned milk star on a One Day Test

                               AR*D - Does with earned star for Advanced Registry records meeting minimum requirements for AR

Inherited Milk Test Awards -

A buck inherits a star (S) if both his parents are star animals.

A Buck may inherit a star if both his dam and his sire's dam have earned stars.

A buck may inherit a plus (+) if he has sired three AR or star daughters out of three different dams.

A buck may inherit a plus (+) if he has two sons who have earned a plus (+).

A buck may inherit a plus (+) if he has two star daughters and one plus (+) son.

A doe may inherit a star if she produces three *D daughters.

A doe may inherit a star if she produces two plus/star sons.

A doe may inherit a star if she produces two star daughters and one star/plus son.

 

The Show Ring

AOM - Any Other Mini - The class designation for when a specific breed does not have enough entries to sanction as a stand alone breed in the show ring.  Consists of whatever breeds did not sanction individually.  There must be at least two breeds shown in order to make the sanction official. 

GCH - Grand Champion  -  The best animal of it's breed and sex in a regular show

RGCH - Reserve Grand Champion - The animal standing next in line to the GCH.  Would become GCH if the first animal is disqualified for any reason.

JRCH - Junior Champion  -  The best animal of it's breed and sex in a show restricted to junior animals

JRRCH - Junior Reserve Champion - The animal standing next in line to the JRCH.  Would become JRCH if the first animal is disqualified for any reason.

BOB - Best of Breed -  The best animal of it's breed (either sex) in the show.  

BIS - Best in Show - The best animal in the show of each sex.  For this award, all GCHs of all breeds compete against each other.

BU - Best Udder - The doe with the best udder in the breed.  May not neessarily be the GCH or RGCH animal.

FGCH -Finished Grand Champion - An animal that has achieved permanent Grand Champion status by winning three separate GCH wins under at least two different judges.

 

General Dairy Goat

FF - First Freshener

 

2nd Gen - A second generation or F2 animal

 

F1, F2, F3, etc. - Indicates the number of generations away from foundation animals (F = Foundation)

 

Experimental - An animal registered in the Experimental Herdbook.  An animal of F1 or F2 breeding. 

 

American - An animal of at least 3 generations (F3) of Mini Dairy Goat breeding. 

 

Purebred - An animal of at least 6 generations (F6) of Mini Dairy Goat breeding.
